NBA Highlights: Heat Edge Thunder 122-120 | Wiggins' Clutch 3-Pointer | Jan 17, 2026 (2026)

The Miami Heat pulled off a stunning victory against the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder on January 17, 2026, with a final score of 122-120.

Andrew Wiggins' clutch three-pointer with a mere 31 seconds left on the clock sealed the deal for Miami. Adding to the Heat's firepower, Bam Adebayo had an outstanding performance, scoring 30 points and sinking a career-high six three-pointers. Norman Powell contributed 19 points to the Heat's score, while Pelle Larsson added 16 points. The bench stepped up too, with Simone Fontecchio and Myron Gardner combining for 24 points.

On the Thunder's side, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put on a show, scoring a game-high 39 points. Despite the loss, Aaron Wiggins scored 18 points for Oklahoma City, with Ajay Mitchell and Chet Holmgren adding 15 and 14 points, respectively.

But here's where it gets controversial... Jalen Williams was sidelined midway through the second quarter due to right thigh soreness, although the situation appeared to be a hamstring injury. This absence certainly impacted the Thunder's momentum.

In a nail-biting finish, the Thunder had a chance to tie the game after Wiggins' go-ahead shot. However, Holmgren missed a crucial shot, and Miami secured the rebound. The Thunder managed to get a stop, but Alex Caruso's last-second three-point attempt bounced off the backboard, ending their hopes. This was the Thunder's first loss this season when scoring at least 120 points, having previously been undefeated in such games with a record of 24-0.

Miami, who took a staggering 111 shots compared to Oklahoma City's 77, played without key players Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continued his impressive streak, scoring at least 20 points in his 113th consecutive regular-season game, inching closer to Wilt Chamberlain's record. This marks the 77th time during this streak that Gilgeous-Alexander has scored 30 or more points.

And this is the part most people miss... The Thunder will face Cleveland on Monday, while the Heat will take on Golden State on the same day.
